About Me

In the summer of 2008, a close friend of mine was diagnosed with ALS.  For those that are not familiar with this here is a link http://www.alsa.org/ There are no words to describe this diagnoses.  She is a remarkable woman and has used her artwork, like the Black Eyed Susans on the left, to raise money for ALS and her daughters.

The more I thought about her and her family; I began to reflect on my own.  This was the same summer my husband and I made the decision to homeschool our children.

As we are heading into our fourth year of homeschooling, I decided to start this blog.   I have no idea if anyone will read this blog or gain any insight into their own lives.  I have learned a lot from other blogs and enjoy seeing how everyone else operates their school.

Our homeschool is a mix between Charlotte Mason and Classical.  I have found that what works for one child does not work for everyone.   We have five wonderful children with their own distinct learning style.  I will use the characters from the book, Five Children and It, to refer to my children.   So here they are in age order:  Jane, Anthea, Robert, Cyril and the Lamb.  (I will add that the Lamb is our daughter not our son.)
